Effective May 9, 2009, AA has changed to one-way award system AND, ELIMINATED ALL INTERNATIONAL / DOMESTIC FREE STOPOVER, EXCEPT, NA gateway cities on international awards.
Note: It is NA gateway cities - and AA defines NA differently than you normally think.
Better check the AA award charts to get yourself familiar with the rules that have been in place for 6+ months already.
