it really was not clear that you were raising questions regarding the situation at this particular hotel. It seemed much more like a general statement about Platinum benefits and that is why I answered it the way I did. In fact, nothing was said in regard to post #33, which again, was made two years ago. Hence, my error and my apologies if that is what you were, in fact, referencing.
For the part in bold, I can only iterate that this thread is about this particular hotel, 4 Points Taipei. While it's fun to have this discussion about what's possible and what was referenced, I went ahead and called 4 Points Taipei to get some actual information. I was told that breakfast is not included as a platinum benefit because of the size and redemption level of the hotel.

MattTaiwan can answer this question. I suspect it is his rate plan rather than Platinum benefit. Many hotels have special rate plans for local residents which I assume MattTaiwan is.
Looks like what you suspect was correct.
By the way--and this is off topic, but I don't seem to find its own thread--4 Points in Manchester, NH gave me one coupon for breakfast (or dinner appetizer) in my recent stay although I registered two guests. When asked about this, hotel staff told me only one coupon was given for gold or platinum members. I just find that peculiar.
