Segment credit refund?
Last night was a joyful night in Chicago owing to nasty weather....Big delays.
I was booked on a FWA-ORD-DCA return last night (8:25 out of FWA) and then a 9:05 out of ORD (one hour time change)...
My business partner HAD to get back to DC last night has his wife was set to leave for Europe this morning. He got a call at 6:15 last night stating that our FWA-ORD segment was cancelled (owing to "Chicago issues") and that our only protection was on the 9:30 flight this morning out of FWA through ORD (of course, as I write this, the FWA flight is already posting 80 minutes late owing to ATC delays).
We asked for alternate carriers (i.e., Delta) and no joy. Given that we could NOT overnight in FWA, we opted to drive the 176 miles from FWA to ORD in order to make the ORD-DCA segment which we were allowed to do. We did have to shell out close to $190 in additional hertz fees for dropping the car off in ORD as opposed to FWA.
At the minimum, is it possible to get a refund for the FWA-ORD segment?
