Pretty poor really. Sorry to send you on a wild goose-chase! I'm sure someone had got seat assignments once, but that could have easily been a one-off or maybe the rules have changed since the pay-for-seats policy has been brought in.
There's still room for improvement for connecting First passengers from domestics/Europe. It's great that priority security and lounges (where available) are offered, but they should be included on the priority boarding call (when used) and given free seat assignments on connecting flights.
No worries on the goose-chase, YouFirst was my next port of call! To be fair the lady who I spoke to was very nice and could see my frustration. I get the feeling they are getting a few calls like this and she did promise to feedback my comments. If I was in a sarcy mood I would suggest it is not my fault BA do not have a First cabin for its domestic flights
