When I was there last month we went to a super busy Dosa shop called Komala Villas. For $3 SG we got a huge Dosa filled w/ vegetables and currey, sambar and rice. All the sides had free refills. Great little local spot, on the main street by Little India MRT station.
Just came back from a trip which included 5 days in SIN. which the last 2 days overlapping with Diwali.
Little India is a nice place to visit....except on Sundays (the day the OP will be there), when seemingly all half a million Indian workers (mostly South Indian) jam pack the place on their day off. However, any other day is fine for visiting. Main attractions are of course the food, especially when they are serving chaat, and the huge 24-hour Mustafa center market.
