I agree with SanDiego1K, either rebook or advise the hotel immediately. I do travel solo, and generally book a 'single' room. Many times I have received an e mail from european hotels asking 'if I am truely' travelling solo, as they will charge me an additional fee if they find that there is another person sharing my room! As for a single room, I indeed did get a very small single bedded room in both the 4 Points Koln, LM Koln, Westin Union Sq SF, Westn Milan as well as other hotels worldwide. On the other hand, I've gotten fantastically large suites, some with great veiws in Venice, Florence, Warsaw, Barcelona etc-- when booking a 'single'.
