On cockpit doors in general. I don't know how the lock works on these doors but if I were cockpit crew and had to exit the aircraft quickly I think having the door open (not jammed) would allow quicker egress. Aborted takeoff, fire, very hard landing or any number of things could require getting out of the aircraft quickly.
The odds of a hijack while possible are very remote. Safety of the crew would seem to trump other considerations.
I maybe wrong but I am almost sure that the cockpits have their own emergancy exists the 747 for eg. has it in the roof. In some cases the windows can be used.........
