I'm checking my roll-a-board 100% of the time now. The variability of the gate agents and hired-bag-enforcers is just too great to deal with anymore. I've found it actually reduces my travel stress and now I just board last to not worry about the "shared" spaces. It amazes me how many people bring huge bags in carry on.

Verdict: A nice benefit.
