For a discussion of Marriott hotels on the 2 islands, read:
Renaissance Ilikai, Maui Marriott Resort, and Renaissance Wailea Resort Comments
Note that the Ilikai has a number of mini-suites with kitchens. They're not otherwise that impressive, IMO.
You can also do a
search in General Travel and/or some of the other hotel forums (Hilton, Starwood, etc) for past topics which address your question. "search" is found near the top of each forum page on the right.
People do appreciate it if you try to use search first, because questions such as this one tend to crop up over and over again. Of course, what you find may not address exactly what you want; by all means then ask your specific question(s).
If you're looking for feedback on value for money, it might be useful to give an idea of the price range you're hoping for. What is "a fortune" to one may not seem expensive at all to someone else. Also, when do you want to travel? If you're celebrating an anniversary, you don't have flexibility, but what you can expect in the way of prices may be dependent on when you're going.
And by all means read ATLMan's recent (in fact, the last part is still to come) trip reports:
Aloha: HNL & OGG Trip Report - 1/25-1/31 (Part I - OAHU)
and
Mahalo for your patience: HNL & OGG Trip Report 1/25-1/31 (PART II - MAUI
