That was also my feeling previously when my steak wasn't very good. In fact I don't think the F.A. even asked me how I wanted it cooked, just they cooked all the steaks the same and that's what you got regardless of how you liked your steak. Now they definitely ask how you want your steak cooked, and of course well-done is a big no-no for steaks.

Also if the previous time I had the steak it was US beef, that also might explain why it wasn't so good. In the past I've spent lots of time living in both the U.S. and Australia, and the only times I ever had a good U.S. beef steak was in very high-end restaurants. Of course everybody's tastes are different so I don't want to get into any debates on which countries beef is best, but for me personally Australian beef is clearly superior.

In regard to Macabus's comment about the OZ steak being like Kobe beef, I wouldn't go quite that far. I was though was very tender and flavorful, certainly better in my opinion than even a standard steak in Australia or Argentina.
