Thanks again for your details on what to see and do on both islands. Just to let you know, Marriott has acquired a hotel on Waikiki, as I saw a 1/2 page ad in a recent USA Today early this month, so I assume it is the one you spoke of. There is no mention of it on the website as of yet.

I will print this topic before the end of the day so that I can begin piecing together the trip itinerary. I am that kind of guy, have to have things planned, at least to fill up half of the time.

The Renaissance Wailea didn't even exist in the AAA TourBook. The Maui Marriott wasn't in there either. Both the Renaissance and JW on Oahu were previously Hotel Nikko's, and I finally figured that out by checking addresses of these properties against the listings in the AAA TourBook.
