The "new" Courtyard: questions

So, did their market research really tell them people want the same outdated room, with a nicer lobby rather than the same lobby, but an updated room?

Did their market research tell them that, not only did elites not want a breakfast benefit, but that people would respond better without standard table service, replaced instead by a line of people ordering at a fake Starbucks, followed by a wait for your food to arrive at your table on a fast food plate resembling a frisbee?

Did their market research tell them that, when you build a nicer lobby but it still has a view of the ugly parking lot, people will still stay in their room?

Did their market research tell them that, when you build a communal table in the new lobby, everyone just avoids it because most of us really don't want to be communal in any way, shape or form with other hotel guests?

Did market research tell them not to put menus of local eateries in rooms or at the front desk an instead tell the front desk to push eating at the "bistro"?

Did market research tell them calling it a "bistro" might be laughed at?

Yes, I am being sarcastic...but not really....how did market research help to arrive at any of these decisions?
