So I have a routing to SIN via HNL all on United metal and neither of the connections in HNL or NRT is longer than 1 hour and 50 minutes.

I am trying to upgrade that and UA is insisting I cannot do this with 1 SWU.

Someone was trying to sponsor me an upgrade and they had to call United since United.BOMB was acting dumb.

Apparently they went through 3 supervisors and MP and came to the conclusion that since I was going via HNL that 1 SWU couldn't cover the entire outbound.

I know before the rules on SWU's changed many people used to go to Asia via HNL with the 23 hr 59 minute stop for some sun and never seem to recall any issues.

Did I just get a flurry of bad agents tonight or is this not allowed?
