it sounds to me like the $499 was a promotion to sell you a timeshare. you should have been required to attend a presentation with that price.

as far as advanced reservations, marriott reservations can accomodate reservations 11 months in advance.

call the property directly and ask to talk to the timeshare sales manager. i think that would be your best bet.
