My timeshare property, resells weeks ranging anywhere from $900.00 to $5500.00, depending on the season. Have you ever considered buying one of these properties and trading. I have always traded to a Marriott property without any problems, though not during Christmas week. I am amazed at the annual maintenance fees Marriott members pay for their yearly visit. My maintenance fees per year are $210.00 and the Interval exchange fee is $114.00, plus I.I. membership. Another thing you need to consider is inflation; these maintenance fees usually increase yearly, driving up the cost of your vacation. I agree with BeanTownFlyer with one twist; take the $49,000 and invest it. Use this account when you have the urge to travel, at the same time earning interest to recover some of those costs, but if you really need to buy I suggest using the advice offered by TheAuditer or Phil. Another source for buying is
