Hilton has been so blase towards its HHonors members over the past 3 years that I'm not surprised many people have defected to other programs, including myself. SPG matched me to Platinum earlier this year and I haven't looked back. I've actually received more SPG Plat upgrades in the past 7 months than I have with 5 years of being Diamond! Not always to suites, but at least corner rooms - something that rarely happened at Hilton.

I've burned so many Hilton points this year that I almost made Gold next year on award stays alone! I was going to book one last paid stay at the Conrad SIN, but considering the points devaluation, I'll probably steer my business towards SPG properties instead.

The Hilton representative on FT is too little, too late. I think the lack of official response on this thread explains it all. The withholding of point stretchers, the fact that most properties are Cat 5 and 6, and now a new Cat 7 along with increased point redemption during a recession just boggles my mind.
