The reservation system stores nearly a full year of data but includes details of flights that departed in the last few days so that is where at least some of the missing days come from.

It is up to BA, and indeed any airline, to decide when they want to make a flight available for sale. They might indeed choose not to make it available the moment they can, for instance to wait and see what some other carriers do.
