Thanks to the fall double miles promotion, this AA Gold member is trying to requalify on miles this year rather than segments. Travel was tough this year thanks to the dreadful recession.

I have flights booked for next week and plans for Thanksgiving travel. Based on my calculations, if I fly before the double-miles promotion ends I can requalify on a 2,194 mile trip. I'm based out of MCI. I'll get 1,000 miles to and from either DFW or ORD. That leaves me needing 1,194 miles to and from the AA hubs.

So I'm looking for a cheap destination that's roughly 600 to 1,000 miles from either DFW or ORD. I'd like to keep my total cost capped at $200 but would go up to $225 if a routing meant less time on the plane.


I'd like to do same-day turnarounds, preferably during traditional daytime hours but am flexible. However, I'd like to avoid leaving at 6 a.m and getting back home at 11:30 p.m.

Can do any Thursday or Friday starting Oct. 29 other than Thanksgiving week and Friday, Dec. 4.

I've tried using the FC FT tool. I've discovered destinations like ALQ and ELP and BNA fall just short of the miles I need. I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you so much in advance.

P.S. I'd also take a six-segment "MR" if that would be cheaper. That would get me to Gold again as well.
