Many FTers accumulate Starwood points on the SPG Amex and transfer to AA 1:1.

Nomdevdt, 3Cforme has a good suggestion if you want to use a credit card. Other non-credit card, non-flying methods to gain points include via the AAdvantage shopping site, crediting hotel and car rentals to AAdvantage, miles for dining, etc. etc. -- I've even gotten miles for my mortgage and real estate agent.

The legislation has been passed and signed into law already but I think its provisions don't start until later this year? early next year? I recently got a terms and provisions change from Discover (a nice one ^) that said that to come in-line with the legislation it would be making some changes -- all were no impact or positive ones for me. Also, I don't think the legislation is anywhere near 100% what consumers would like.
