Well, I guess my point is - how many current 1Ks who *weren't* grandfathered in to the e500 conversion business actually know about it? My guess would be, not many. Two classes of 1Ks, and the associated devaluations, only matter if new 1Ks know what they're missing. As long as it's not a published benefit for them, they won't have expectations to be dashed.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't think new 1Ks would care that they're not getting CR-1s as long as they aren't *expecting* them. That's what my scheme would be all about - managing expectations. Grandfathered 1Ks' expectations of CR-1s would be appropriately addressed, while someone who hits 1K for the first time in, say, 2011, would know what bennies they were and weren't going to get - and their expectations would be accordingly different.

Thanks for your input, mecabq!
