There are some SS's and HP's within 30 miles of where I live that have cheap (though not quite that cheap) weekend rates, but they're generally difficult to get to without a car, which I don't own (and renting one just for this kind of defeats the purpose). While I consider it something of a game to earn free nights as cheaply as possible, it's still worth it to me, particularly after time and hassle factors are added, to earn them at higher rates. My personal cut-off is probably about $125, but I could easily justify a higher figure. In my case, I plan to use my free nights during trips I would be taking anyway at PHs in Europe, where rooms often go for well over $600 (and even if that's not an accurate measure, any more than the price of a business class ticket is a test of its true value to me, I would not be spending less than $300 a night for another hotel in Paris, Milan or Moscow).
