Me too - in typical American fashion, I ninaivelyhought I could find it everywhere in such a university town but had zero luck finding it anywhere but in the hotels.

At the Hyatt Regency in Kyoto, which is a *beautiful* place BTW, the internet service in-room was smoking fast...
