Very similar experience recently in J for me too. IFE was down on my seat, as well as an adjacent seat. FA didn't really care. Same thing on the return (I reckon it was probably the same plane). Seat problems too. Sent a letter to AC. They wrote back, telling me to suck it up.

Conversely, I recently got a very nice gift certificate from Qantas over similar IFE and seat troubles in Y, no less.

The difference in approaches was eye opening.
