A couple of days ago I flew J, YYZ-YVR, in a 333. PAX were advised before boarding that the entertainment system was caput (actualy the GA said that it could be repaired but it might delay the flight by 3 or 4 hours, suggesting that the PAX were getting a good deal by an on-time departure).

The light over my seat was locked on for the entire flight, the food was awful (which was not unexpected) and the FA's were more interested in talking about their recent holidays than attending to PAX. Nor was a free drink offered to PAX in Y.

As recently as a year ago cards would have been handed out offering a discount on future travel for a whole entertainment system being down. When I asked a FA about these cards she didn't seem to know what I was talking about. Are they also caput??
