I'm a Premier Elite Member for the past 3 and an Elite member two year before that. There are a few nice things about Mabuhay Miles...nothing really bad but it needs to improve on alot of things.

One thing I like a lot is it's relatively easy to qualify for Elite or Premier Elite, apart from earning thru miles flown in a year, your actual flights also count. I think its about 15 Mabuhay Class or 30 Economy Class segments and 25 Mabuhay Class or 50 Economy Class segments for Premier Elite. I rarely fly trans pacific routes but work always takes me around Asia and the Philippines and since PR's Business class fares are just as expensive as economy class on CX, SQ and TG, I always choose to fly PR.

There were times when they would upgrade me when seeing my Premier Elite card, both on domestic and regional routes and most of them I don't even have to ask. You can get away with other things too, such as not paying rebooking fees and if you wish to fly on an earlier flight (which happens to me quite often) I'm usually on the top of the list.

Additional luggage is also very good especially coming home from shopping trips or long vacations in the US. You don't have to worry about overweight since your additional baggage allowance for Premier Elite is 30Kgs for Regional and domestic flights or 1 extra piece when flying from the US.

They also offer nice promotions like the most recent one is 50% off on redeemed companion ticket when you buy a regular ticket. They also had a redemption Sale for a limited time where all tickets were at 50% off and there was also a Cash + Miles promotion which was also quite attractive.

Now for my wish list:

1. Better website - I just find their website too plain even the main PR website. I think they should redo it and make it more exciting and vibrant. Right now it looks too corporate-y.

2. Online Ticketing - I really hope we could get tickets online. Its such a pain that every time I claim a ticket I have to go to Philippine Airlines and do it personally or have someone do it for me. I think they should reduce the hassle of redeeming reward tickets and just do it online.

3. Companion tickets - My brother always redeems companion tickets for me when we travel, mostly on CX, the recent promotion was similar but I hope they make it a regular thing.

4. Alliances - They should really do something about that, whether they apply or wait to be invited...I think partnering with other airlines would improve the quality of the program.
