Contrary to US/UK, Germany has a wonderful integrated transport policy where train stations are built in or near airports. German trains are clean/cheap/efficient and the whole process is effortless compared to changing terminals, clearing immigration etc. at LHR.

You can buy train tickets that can be posted to you in US at Deutchebahn (German Railways) and the site is in English.
