BA5E is correct upto a point but ignoring the fact that anyone, regardless of status can also select seats so long as they are in an appropriate fare class - or at least that was the case! It's hard to tell now if that ability has been removed because a) it was a mistake in the first place b) Hotlines can no longer reserve seats (would be interesting to know if that extends to those with status - maybe some of the BA staff with status would know) or c) it's a unnoticed change in the new seating policy.
