QF seems nice. I've flown it a number of times both domestically and internationally. My beef with them: 1) the accrual of EQ points (EQM) is ridiculous, 2) the accrual of bonus points (RDMs) is ridiculous, 3) the amount of points for an award ticket is ridiculous. It is, in total, a joke of a FF program as far as points/miles/eqms accrual and benefits. United is (i'll use the word again) ridiculously better as far as points/miles/EQMS goes. Add in E+, and it isn't even close. I haven't flown QF internationally in 5 1/2 years.
QF just survives on the fact that it is Australia's airline, and most Aussie's just accept whatever they give them. There is little consumer action in Australia, which is why inflation and prices are so high.
If you look at SQs program and a few other non-US airlines, they're FF program benefits do not compete at all with US carriers in my opinion. This is from a miles/points/EQMS/award-ticket point of view only. Those airlines do have better service, better food, better IFE, etc, but that isn't a FF benefit, it's just an airline benefit.
