I seem to recall when NZ enhanced the domestic services, Koru Hour, food offerings, to give the final kick to QF, that newspapers were available to all on the breakfast flights. QF had that as part of the shortlived Cityflyer service
They are available to all, as long as you remember to pick one up at the gate.
