I'd start by asking again tomorrow morning, and if you get the same answer, ask to speak with and raise your question politely with the GM. You might ask them to call around to other hotels and see if any would accomodate you. I bet they figure out something. I certainly wouldn't accept that tired 9/11 excuse without a fight.
