I stayed there for a night 2 weeks ago, and was very impressed. The rooms are well designed and comfortable. The staff members with whom I interacted were all extremely friendly and helpful.

Late on the night before my arrival, I emailed the hotel with some questions for the concierge about shopping. When I checked in, there was an envelope for me from the concierge with detailed answers to all of my questions, and a map on which he had marked the locations of the places I had asked about.

The lady that checked me in impressed me a lot - she was friendly, charming and informative. She escorted me to my room and gave me a quick tour of it. I tried to offer a tip, which was not insubstantial, but she would not accept it (and managed to do so gracefully).

I would certainly like to try the hotel again when I next get a chance to go to Milan.

Regarding rates, I was able to get a rate of Euro430 from Amex for a week night - not much lower than the one you were offered, but it might be worth trying them.
