The only upgrade awards Hyatt offers are an upgrade to a suite or an upgrade to a regency club room. At a resort both require you to pay the rack rate for the highest non-regency club category room (i.e. oceanview). So unfortunately your 5000 points would not get you the upgrade. On the other hand, if the hotel is not sold out it is likely that as a Gold Passport member you would be upgraded to a better room automatically or on request at check-in. Finally, if you are staying at least six nights, you might do better than the AAA rate by booking the Hyatt Sunshine on Sale Rate; while it starts at $425/nt you get free buffet breakfast and your 6th night free (so that brings the rate down to an average of $354 on a 6 night stay), as well as $200 in flight credits for a future flight.
