I shadow what pitbrian said especially regarding the plethora of nicer bars. In fact, I have seen many a people on the weekends going from Manhattan TO Hoboken to hit up the bar scene there (yes shocker I know). Hoboken is essentially a college town, albeit not a major one, as it's rather small and quaint with Stevens University a couple of blocks from the W.
