Inter-line luggage check-in (and overnight) transit
Hi, hope someone can help me with this. I will be arriving in ICN at around 7pm from SFO on SIA flight and have a connecting flight the next morning on KE to Sapporo CTS. Both of these flights were booked on separate e-bookings (ie. separate PNR's). They are both on Business Class.
I'm wondering if I should check my luggage through from SFO-ICN-CTS and check into the Air Garden transit hotel for a good night's rest. Or, don't take the risk, clear immigration, retrieve my luggage and re-check in again with KE.
Prior to posting this query, I've gone thro the old threads dating back to 2007. Those info were very useful but I still have some unanswered questions :
a) If I take the risk of checking in my luggage inter-line, should I expect SIA to tag my luggage with 2 tags, ie. "SFO-ICN" and "ICN-CTS" ? I read somewhere in the older threads that inter-line checkin is a breeze "but please make sure they tagged your luggage properly". I guess I don't understand this point. If SIA's computer system is not linked to KE, how can SIA issue me 2 luggage tags. If they issue only "SFO-ICN", then who will tag that luggage with "ICN-CTS".
b) Who is responsible if my luggage is lost in transit? SIA or KE ?
c) If I stay at the Air Garden transit hotel, will KE allow me to use the Business Class lounge ON THE EVENING OF MY ARRIVAL ? Or, will they only permit me to enter the next day, since my flight is the next day ?
d) Does the Air Garden hotel has Wifi ? I know the lounge has 2 computers but I prefer to use my own PC. If not, does the airport has free Wifi ?
e) If I clear immigration, pick-up my checked luggage, then can I check-in again THAT SAME EVENING FOR THE NEXT MORNING'S FLIGHT ? Or, I must wait till the next day before KE will allow me to check-in ? I prefer to stay in Air Garden transit hotel since hauling my stuff out/in the airport to some nearby hotel seems like a chore.
Many thanks !!!
