Airline tickets are all priced in $US AFAIK so not sure how you save money there.

The official rate was about 1.95 and I readily got 5.2 to 1 at the airport via Black Market spivs.

The official deparutre tax is about 160 Pesos a person .. or about $US80 if you are dumb enough to pay in dollars.

Good way to get rid of any surplus.

The duty free stores seems to take pesos as well if you are stuck with any.

I just returned from a week in Venezuela. 56 people were murdered in Caracas the weekend I was there so be incredibly CAREFUL!

Caracas is the most dangerous large city on earth right now, even ahead of Baghdad, so even me, the intrepid traveller was more than a bit nervous about this one – take a read of the OFFICIAL US State Dept warnings: http://xoogok.notlong.com
