But I guess this is not really how the rule was meant to be interpreted so this is why the booking class for the OP will be Y.
My copy of the rules has different punctuation, which has an impact on the interpretation.

So you can book into A if available on FRWSTARx, or on 2-class flights where the higher class sold is first when on CRWSTARx (on 3-class flights if D is unavailable you get Y).
It doesn't matter if the booking class is unavailable because it doesn't exist or because it is sold out, if you are on FRWSTARx or CRWSTARx then you'd get Y booking class.
