The area is pretty dead, but San Francisco is very easy to get around, in my opinion. I didn't mind being in that area on the weekends.

And yes you can still buy a pass for the Bay Club through the concierge. Or you can go into the 24 Fitness Club close by and buy a pass there for $15/day.
