Cannot comment on the early recognition, but I just had some miles posted from June and in the online statement they should up as posting in June, not chronologically. For end of year tally I suspect (no proof) that it would be departure date of flight.
And that might make sense, that early recognition and end of year are treated differently... the early recognition is a hard date, and theoretically, they do a database sweep on the day after the closing date, whereas for end of the year, they have a few weeks to play with.
Also when the early status recognition was November 15th, that was a few years ago, and the miles that posted, weren't backdated to the original flight date. They just appeared with the date they were posted... Perhaps IT changes have allowed them to do this easier.
