And to clarify my oft-repeated advice:
never book with thetrainline.com or raileasy.com While these websites have high profile campaigns etc, they're the worst for unavoidable extra charges. You can get the same fares (and quite often a better user experience) from the websites of the train operators themselves, and avoid paying RailEasy's £1 booking fee, or thetrainline's unjustifiable debit card, credit card, ticket collection or ticket delivery fees.
Of all the train operators, I still believe
National Express East Coast has the best user interface (it's also used by London Midland) because you can quickly find the cheapest combination of Advance tickets for a return journey against the regular fares in a single screen.
