+1 OT I know, but the more entitled someone acts, the less likely I am to help them.

When flying european carriers that require(d) live check-in, I got into the habit of leaving my bigger carry-on's elsewhere if possible (with someone dropping me off, in my car if it's short-term parking, etc.). You'd think they'd be more aggressive in asking why I only had a laptop bag for a 4-7 day TATL trip, but for some reason, they never were.

By "it," do you mean your bag, which they made you check it and then lost?

I don't want a weight restriction on carry-on bags, like is rigorously enforced in NZ.
I agree with others that there does need to be a weight limit for safety, but the 15lbs European airlines limit you to is too low. I'd like to thank multiple European airlines for the clothes they've bought me to get me through the first 1-2 days of multiple trips while they located my misplaced 20-25lb roll-aboards, though.
