"Upgrade Confirmed" - but no seating possible to allocate?
A funny one.
Two days ago we flew Buenos Aires-IAD-LAX-SYD.
EZE-IAD cleared, and so did IAD-LAX.
A senior UA phone agent (GS desk) got IM to shake out all upgrades - as well as our seats to SYD. Nice going, as both long hauls were sold nearly 100% full at that point.
He could not allocate seats on the IAD-LAX segment for some reason, even tho that flight was over 36 hours away, so was not under airport control.
Under "My Itineraries" it showed as "NC class upgrade confirmed" as it did on the UA email.
Get to EZE to check-in and they have same issue ... even tho it was sked as a 767 as planned, no seating possible, so we get 2 x DM looking cards passes that say on them "UPGRADE CONFIRMED". But no seats. Have never seen that before.
Get to IAD RCC and even they can't assist. Go to gate and even THEY can't assist, and say come back in 20 minutes.
As 2 x 1Ks on an It'l B fares, we are on top of the UPGRADE screen at gate, and we eventually get called up for BP in LAST row of C on the 3 class 767.
A 100% full 767, and a ton of folks on gate upgrade screen did not make it.
My question is, seeing it was always sked as a 767, and as upgrade was always confirmed, what went on with the no seating allocation deal, does anyone know?
