Thanks for the replies. Apparently I didn't get my point across in my first post. I'm not looking for an interpretation of the rules of the NYDBL promo.

Instead, My point is that I've been surprised since changing my address to an APO, AE address:

* I've received 2 emails that are obviously targeted to people who live in New York discussing sales that are exclusive to the New York market

* the NYDBL promo appeared on the AAdvantage bonus page after I changed my address, and I hadn't seen it before

* When I changed my address, I attempted to do so online and the AA site does not even offer "AE" as a state code. Some websites do, some don't. I had to email AAdvantage customer service to ask them to change my address. This leads me to believe that when it comes to military address state codes (AA, AP, and AE), AA's computer system is so old that it somehow associates the military zip codes with the states in which their addresses used to be associated.

That may not make a lot of sense, so here's a little additional info. From what I've been able to gather:

APO AP used to be APO San Francisco
APO AE used to be APO New York, and
APO AA used to be APO Miami

My question is not about the rules of the promo, instead, I'm looking to see if there are any other AAdvantage members with European APO addresses who have noticed that AAdvantage sends you offers associated with the New York market, or if instead, there is some quirky glitch associated with my account. I'd be thrilled if NYDBL applied to my account, but in the long run it would be better if AA instead sent me offers associated with FRA.
