If the room upgrade is the SPG Platinum style, i.e. best room including suites, than I would say it is a welcome change. Personally, I like RC/GC when on business, and suites when with my family. I don't really care for suites on short one-night business stays, but would be great with family. If this is true, I hope Hyatt would implement a way for Diamonds to indicate preference when making reservation as many hotels pre-assign room uprades, especially for international properties.
