It may well be KL's check-in system that was trying to check you in for the next segment simply because it was there, not anything that NW did. I have taken least half a dozen awards with less than a 24 hours stop and NEVER had this issue, until this week. Second my ticket had KLM in VCE via AMS and CZ to PRG. I checked in with KLM. My family was on a non-stop from VCE to PRG on CZ and checked in at CZ. I do not know about any comments with CZ checkin and family but in my case KLM agent said it was problem with ticket. I happen to have enough knowledge when I hear remove a segment there will be an issue and I headed off issue in VCE. My family, and I think most non-FT, would hear those words and not insist on keeping segment in tact.
Sorry about this one but I feel pretty confident NW reservations dropped the ball on this one.
