May not be the best but I don't seem to have as much complain as others do. But I know two former colleagues based in SYD whom I still keep in touch with these days who has switched from CX to SQ for their regular SYD-LHR trips. Their main reason is simple: for almost the same price, the new SQ J is far superior to the new CX J. As revenue paying J passengers, they feel that comfort is the sole most important factor for a trip that involves 20+ hours such as SYD-LHR. I know there are other factors involved that determines load factors such as the economic situation, but from the perspective of the seat factor between the new J and previous J, do you think CX is doing better or worse in terms of J load?
This is not a tough question. The old J was not fully flat. While people gripe, CX would've lost nearly everyone to SQ or QF or whoever if they didn't have a new (flat) product. I'm also pretty sure that old J loads were much better, but it has nothing to do with (the very tired debate about) new J vs. old J. It is because in the last 18 months the financial crisis has decimated premium cabins.
