A lot of the Thai AB6's are built in the late 90s... They are not that old people. A lot of them are a lot younger than many Qantas B763's and a lot of B747-400's in airline fleets around the world....

The facts:

Oldest Thai A300 - 24 years old
Youngest Thai A300 - 11 years old (built in 1998)

The rest are somewhere in between. The oldest Thai Boeing 747-400 is 19 years old, so a significant number of A300's are newer than that. Remember, these are almost all A300-600R's, the most modern A300 and it has a semi-glass cockpit not unlike the B737-400, Boeing 757 and Boeing 767 series aircraft. There are several B777-200's in the Thai fleet that are older airframes than some of the A300-600's.

Just relax.... there is nothing wrong with them.

If one of the previous posts is true that they have found some cracks and will retire one of them early, it just goes to show that the maintenance standards are very high and they have detected this problem. Thai operate a world class maintenance facility that many foreign companies utilize. Don't forget that a lot of the world's airline fleet is maintained in various asian countries like Thailand, The Phillipines etc etc
