+1 on the call from QF on seeking customers paying $ for an upgrade.
Colleague of mine was called 2 days before MEL - FRA flight and was offered Y to J for extra A$200.

BA are doing the same thing at the moment, trying to squeak an extra few hundrie out of customers before doing any op-ups.
