Um... if this flight really does change from a 3-class 777 to a 319, upgrades are going to be impossible, codeshare or not!
Just booked the flight via Orbitz, and it instantly showed up in my itins, still as a 777. We'll see what happens. At least it preserved (so far) my E+ seating from Orbitz. I seem to recall a time when you couldn't choose elite options on Orbitz; you had to wait until it showed up in my itins and change it there.
More info- when trying to check the seat map (change seats option) for the UA codeshare flight (SFO-ORD), this message appears-
Seat maps are unavailable for this flight. If this is a codeshare flight or a flight operated by a partner airline, please contact the operating carrier for seat map review and seat assignments. Tough to say if it's related to the plane change or not. Hopefully that's what it is, and not because it's a codeshare (since UA is the operating carrier). I don't want to have to get involved with calling customer service to try and figure out decent seats on a full flight. Easier to look for "opportunities" that come up as the seatmap changes over time.
Thanks-
