I thought about doing the same thing--paying part of the bill in certificates and the balance with MasterCard. Luckily I called GP first because they told me the amount has to be paid in FULL with your MasterCard for FFN credit. The rules state this as well I believe. You got lucky that they did give you the FFN credit. Hopefully Julia can help with the rest. Once when I booked an Entertainment rate at Grand Champions (directly from Hyatt reservations), they told me that rate didn't count for points; I had plenty of incidentals as well. But they relented and said they'd "make an exception" and go ahead and give me the points. Very challenging (exasperating?)in keeping up with the do's and don'ts.
