Star Alliance- When Status Counts!

My in-laws are on their way to a cruise in Greece and sure enough their first flight gets delayed and they are given a routine re-accomodation on the next available flights. Its just that the next available flight schedule will have them miss their cruise.

Enter the United ticket counter staff (whats left of em) that has musty memories of me going back close to 20 years. They transform the re-accomodation into an episode of the 'Amazing Race...or maybe Competitours!!!), frantically plotting and scheming to construct some kind of Star Alliance routing that will plant them on the doorstep of their cruise in the nick of time. After twenty minutes of keyboard tapping that would put the "PWP" crowd to shame here, my in-laws walked away with a brand spanking new itin to ATH and more importantly, the piece of mind that goes with it.

THANKS BD for the award ticlket, United for the staff expertise, LH for the initial re-accomodation, LX for opening up space where there wasn't any and Aegean for being a new, but apparently, very savvy member of *A to fly my in-laws the last mile.
